Caribbeana went On Air in 1977
Vonulrick "Von" Martin, a broadcaster/producer, founded Caribbeana Radio Services in 1975 and went on air in 1977 as one of the initial radio personalities of WPFW 89.3 FM. Born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and residing in the United States (Washington, DC Metropolitan area) for more than three decades with his family he has cultivated a culture by using his given talent and adoration for radio.

As a means of broadening the scope of what the Caribbean culture is considered and who the people of the Caribbean and it's diaspora are. Caribbeana values education as a way of accepting the importance of shared learning and value added, encouraging curiosity and the questioning mind, recognizing the partnership between school, home and community in education, and seeing education as a life-long process.
